Thanks to Vicki Davis and David Warlick I tried TeacherTube by uploading our “Inclusion” video there. It was viewed 30 times in about 30 minutes. As so many Web 2.0 applications it is free, easy to sign-up for, easy to use … but … is it blocked by my school district? Since it’s Saturday I’ll find out tomorrow or Monday.
Update 3-25 – I’m at school right now … and the answer is … IT’S NOT BLOCKED!!!
I’ve just found TeacherTube, and I’ve been emailing people at out area ISD (Genesee in Michigan) to find out if its blocked.
The only way this takes off is if we have access to it.
The good folks over at SchwabLearning have been searching for ways to educate General Ed teachers about the various learning disabilities, remediation, and accomodations. This looks great — I’d seen Vicki mention it but now I’ve jumped on it. THANKS!
Hi All,
Thanks for the kind words about TeacherTube.
I am Jason one of 3 co-founders of TeacherTube. Along with my wife, Jodie and brother Adam we created TeacherTube to form a community where the best teachers in the world are sharing their best practices with other teachers and with students. My wife and I are 14 year veteran public school educators and my brother is our tech guru.
TeacherTube is designed to be a safe place for learners of all ages so that schools can feel confident allowing TeacherTube into the classrooms. We also understand that TeacherTube will only be as good as the content that our community members places into the site. So it is very important to us that our community members keep high standards for uploads through the ability to flag and comment on any video lesson.
We need your input, for TeacherTube is learning as the site continues to grow.
Hi,
Thanks guys for visiting TeacherTube and promoting the site through discussion. I am Adam one of 3 co-founders of TeacherTube along with my brother and his wife. We created TeacherTube to form a community where the best teachers in the world are sharing their best practices with other teachers and with students. Jason and his wife are are 14 year veteran public educators and I am a project engineer for a construction company that builds schools. And of course my brother quotes me as “the tech guru” of the site.
I agree whole heartedly with the idea that many who are blocking web 2.0 sites will need to rethink their practice. In fact TeacherTube is designed to be a safe place for learners of all ages so that schools can feel confident allowing TeacherTube into the classrooms. We also understand that TeacherTube will only be as good as the content that our community members places into the site. So it is very important to us that our community members keep high standards for uploads through the ability to flag and comment on any video lesson.
Please encourage your readers to give us input, for TeacherTube is learning as the site continues to grow.
