UPDATE: IT has informed me this evening that this was a “filter issue” and that it has been repaired and they do not plan on blocking blogs. YEAH!!!!
This was the message we got today when we tried to log-in to our class blog.
“Website denied based on WCSD Internet acceptable use policy”
Blocked URL: http://classblogmeister.com/blog.php?blogger_id=65078
I contacted the “powers-that-be” in the school district right away … and its possible this is a mistake and will be rectified … but if not my students have already drafted posts and letters explaining why this is unacceptable. I’ll keep you posted.
Hmmm…. we are studying the American Revolution right now. What could we dump instead of tea?
Learning is messy!
Brian,
Sorry to hear about this. We are so fortunate at our school to have NOTHING blocked. Our little parochial school has the policy that ADULTS are the best filters. Do we have any issues or problems. Sure, occasionally. But, we deal with “the abuse and the abuser” on a case-by-case basis and it seems to work out. Like I said, we’re fortunate.
I’ll be watching for how your blocking turns out!
Paul
Oh my. I hope this is resolved quickly. Would it help to have the parents calling the powers that be too?
Reminds me of what I ran into last week… I went to show my 8th graders how to log into our Moodle server and use the system, when, opps can’t find the server…
I called our help desk and asked if someone could check on the server to make sure it is running and maybe “bounce it.” (tech slang for restart)
2.5 hours later the server was back up and running… just in time for lunch!
Does anyone else find that the only technology that you can rely on is the stuff that you have complete dominion over?
